VP, Commercial Banker

We are seeking an experienced and motivated Commercial Banker to join our team. In this role, you will originate, structure, and manage a diverse commercial lending and deposit portfolio while ensuring adherence to sound underwriting practices and regulatory guidelines. You will be at the forefront of our efforts to support local businesses and stimulate economic growth in the communities we serve.

 

Key Responsibilities

·        Lending & Deposit Development: Evaluate and underwrite commercial loan applications by analyzing financial information, assessing credit risk, and structuring terms that meet both the customer’s needs and the Bank’s risk parameters.

·        Relationship Management: Build and maintain strong relationships with business owners, community leaders, and financial intermediaries. Represent South Story Bank & Trust in local networking opportunities to identify new business prospects.

·        Portfolio Management: Monitor an active loan portfolio, ensuring timely follow-up on key performance indicators, managing loan documentation, and proactively addressing any potential red flags.

·        Compliance & Risk Management: Ensure all lending activities are performed in compliance with internal policies, industry regulations, and sound risk management practices.

·        Cross-Department Collaboration: Work closely with credit analysts, operations, and risk management teams to support thorough loan processing and exceptional customer service.

 

Qualifications

  • Experience: A minimum of 7 –10 years of experience in commercial lending, credit analysis, or a related financial services role. A demonstrated ability to originate and manage commercial loan portfolios is essential. Agriculture experience is a plus.
  • Educational Background: Bachelor’s degree in finance, Business Administration, or a related field. Relevant professional certifications or additional coursework in commercial lending or risk management is highly desireable.
  • Technical & Analytical Skills: Strong analytical abilities, excellent credit judgment, and proficiency in evaluating complex financial statements and market trends.
  • Interpersonal Skills: Excellent communication and relationship-building skills with a passion for community engagement and business development.
  • Attention-to-Detail: Meticulous organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strategic Orientation: Experience developing and executing business strategies that drive sustainable growth in commercial lending.
